Patrick Hopkins entered the physique world in 1989 at the age of 20 with his first bodybuilding contest, a local contest in San Luis Obispo, CA. Additional contests followed three years later with a second place finish at the NPC Fresno Open and a first place Novice finish at the NPC Border States Classic, then a long break to get serious with school. Such an exciting endeavor however prompted him to pursue a professional seat within the industry, receiving a NASM cert and soon after changing his degree to Nutritional Science.
Advanced Nutrition Strength and Fitness (ANSF) was his opening business with partner Bret Hamlin in 1997 and together they stormed their community as traveling trainers then settled down as independent contractors with elite clubs of the California Central Coast like Avila Bay Club, SLO Kickboxing and Estrada's Gym.
Patrick's first professional client, UFC light-heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell, helped Patrick prove his training and nutrition skills literally to the world, as Chuck quickly made himself a household name within the MMA community. While Patrick switched his fitness goals to power lifting, he spent the next two seasons competing in the 220 lb class and winning such titles first place at IPF Santa Barbara and two second place finishes at the IPF California State Championships.
Now with a B.S. in Nutritional Science from California Polytechnic University at SLO and a start toward a M.S. in Exercise Science and Heath Promotion, Patrick's local success evolved to new heights when he started FIT LIFE in early 2000 and branched out to the Corporate arena when offered a position as lead Corporate Fitness Trainer for ABC Clio, the world's largest history publishing company, out of Santa Barbara CA.
In 2004 Patrick moved to Texas with new wife Sondra and within six months opened their first training facility – Fit Life Studio, an elite personal training studio. Two years of a successful start-up proved extremely rewarding but the desire to compete burned strong and by 2008 Patrick had four clients hitting the physique stage and winning. His wife Sondra managed four Figure contests in 08' and landed her Junior Nationals qualification at the Texas State Championships, while Kim Lairet placed 2nd in the Figure F class at the Arnold Amateur. Patrick's competitive return proved successful as well with a top-five finish at the NPC Lone Star Classic and Light-heavyweight win in both the Open and Masters class the following week at the NPC South Texas Classic.
In February 2011 Patrick and his family relocated to El Paso, TX where he continues promoting the utmost quality in fitness and nutrition with the birth of his newest business Built By Patrick and the introduction of an entirely new service to tie his entire package together - meal preparation. All customized meals plans now come with the option of having all meals prepared and delivered. Patrick removes the painstaking time and prep from the eating equation and leaves the client with a stress-free environment with which to flourish from.
